1st Lorretta Mitchell-ancient Chinese secret!

2nd Dave Mitchell- broke transfer case yoke

3rd Erik Stacey- broke??? All I can figure is that Dave and Erik got stuck in my tracks:-), or maybe not. They were actually Howard's Boggers ruts.

4th Gene Mohney- He finally figured out there is more than 150' to a track.

5th Jason Nihiser- Jason always does a good job pulling, I'll find something to say one of these days.

7th Howard Deshong- He lives in eastern PA, drove to Shelbyville, KY for a pull Sat, then was here in Mercer, PA for Sunday's pull...........what some people won't do for some diesel smoke.

2nd - Marlin Shirk
Muncie, IN

(If anyone has pictures of the below trucks from Muncie, please send them to me so I can put their pictures below. I forgot my cameras. Thanks!)
7200 Open

1st Jason Nihiser
2nd Sled Puller
3rd Larry Crawford

Lorretta- I would pick on the guys so I might as well abuse myself. It was called a case of "lead foot". I tried to back out to stop the hop (a good thing), then I tried to get into it again (BAD thing). Then I finally regained my senses and clutched it. Can I blame this on hormones and being pregnant?? Please... See my comments in the 8000 Open for the end results of my stupidity.

8000 Open
1st Sled Puller- Nice job Gene! You worked hard for this win. How long will we have to hear about this???????

2nd Dave Gresh- "Pullin for Jesus" Blew a coolant hose.

4th. Lorretta Mitchell- Now for the rest of the story. I thought I might as well try it again in the 8000. I had a little noise, but nothing major I thought-why would I think? But, in my defense, I did pull with a little sense this time. Well, my truck really talked to me on the 3.5 hour drive home-needless to say we had the tunes cranked. We dropped the rear end cover and found I didn't have a 3.55 ratio any longer. I was missing 3 teeth on my ring gear. Go ahead have your fun......at least I drove home.

9th Erik Stacey- He blew an air to air boot.
New Castle, PA
6/15/02
Howard Deshong- 1st. Great run!

Marlin Shirk- 2nd (Deshong's tow truck)

Dave and "Sled Puller" played leap frog. I wish they would grow up and leave the leap frog game to the kids............... At least they stopped leaping before they ate ring gear teeth like some else we won't mention:-).
Mechanicstown, OH 6/21/02 2nd Dale Factor- I'll never hear the end of this. I think I'll use the excuse the baby was kicking me & I let off; I will never admit (to Dale) I was gun shy after Muncie & left my lead foot at home. I have to admit he did do a great job- considering the other 2 hooks he had this year. One he never moved the sled & the other he stopped for the 75' rule & the pull back tractor didn't. Needless to say the tractor totaled the back of the sled & the pull was over. Rumor has it that Dale blew too much smoke & the tractor driver couldn't see the sled.

3rd. Lorretta

4th.Eric

No bounce for Eric or me:-)!!!! What a relief after Muncie.
It was an eventful night to say the least. I ended up towing Eric because his tow truck laid down near our shop about the same time Dave decided he couldn't be done in time. (Dave didn't hook, he was installing new ladder bars to hopefully cure his hop.) Jason called for directions; after giving them to him at 5:15 he realized the pull was tonight and not Saturday night. His "tow" truck (you're in trouble now Dad) was nowhere to be found. We had to install a new trailer pigtail along the road at a place called Kangaroo Crossing according to a good Samaritan who stopped to help. We saw no kangaroos, but who's to questions a good Sam? We finally got back on the road and ran out of fuel; I'd turned my pump off while playing with the lights. So we proceeded to block traffic at Kangaroo Crossing. I popped the hood to either it, Eric got out and it started. He jumped back in and cracked his head on the door jam (kind of like the old Bugs Bunny cartoons with the big lump...). So we took off again only to find we'd left the hood open. So we stopped in a parking lot to close it and we ripped off the new end we had just installed on the trailer cord. That was thanks to Dale who left it wrapped around the gooseneck of the trailer and taped it to my hitch. But, I can't abuse him too much because he had the extra end for the light cord. I can't wait to see how much a light cord end costs at midnight at Kangaroo Crossing. So we put it back on again and replaced the fuse we blew fixing it the first time. After that things went very smooth. Keep in mind this was the short version. It took us 4 1/2 hours to make a 2 1/2 hour trip. I just wonder if it was Eric??? It all started when he "killed" his tow truck.
Circleville,OH 6/28/02 EXHIBITION ONLY CLASS

Dave --1st.
Jason2nd. Dale- 3rd.
Thornville, OH
7/1/02
No, there was not an official truck pull in Thornville. BUT I had to let you in on the events of the day. Keith Conway was pulling his 5th wheel trailer (loaded) when his truck quit moving. I delivered the load on the trailer and the tow truck delivered Keith to our shop. When we got it torn down; he had grenaded clutch, inputshaft, bellhousing, gears in the trans., slave cylinder, the release arm was gone, etc......... Keep in mind this truck has very close to 300,000 miles on it with dozens of hooks at the track. He never breaks pulling, but he did it right this time. Oh, BTW I forgot to tell you about the load on the trailer..................No he didn't have his log skidder or a load of lumber. He had about 25 lbs.- it was the set for Vacation Bible School. He'd better stick to real loads or pulling.........Don't forget to ask him about the Thornville Pull when you see him!
  Dave- 1st
Dave Gresh-4th.
This was a well run show. Great job to Jesse Bohannon and his whole crew for a job well done.

Dave- 1st

Jason- 2nd

Lorretta-3rd (The baby kicked and made me let off the accelerator. That's why Jason is in 2nd. How's that for an excuse???)

Howard- 4th

Marlin Shirk- 5th (Howard's tow truck).

Great job everyone! No carnage and lots of smoke.
Just a quick note, I won't mention names. To the 4th and 5th place pullers (I didn't mention names-here): It helps to latch the 5th wheel trailer to the tow truck BEFORE you try to load the pulling truck. Of all days to forget my digital camera..............bummer.

Dave Gresh- 1st in the open class. It's about time he put his foot on the floor! I was beginning to think he was going to let a Ford beat him:-).

Tip for the day: Your truck will pull much better with the emergency brake released....
Marysville, OH
7/26/02
Lorretta- 1st.

Dave- 2nd. (We were both in a pull off. Dave felt sorry for me and let me have the win. Actually he had a water leak and couldn't pull off. 7/31/02 Dave has informed me that I made the decision he couldn't pull off, just so I could win.......Me??? I'd never do anything like that:-). I don't suppose he would have ever said anything, but someone, me, was giving him some grief about me winning. I only beat him by default, otherwise he gets me by 50'-75'. I might as well enjoy it while I can. I'm sure he'll get even with me.).
Erik- 4th. Blew a boot, or he'd have been in the pull off with us.

Jeremy- 5th. Not a bad showing for having to pull with the big boys. He started out in the street stock class and the officials bumped him up to the Pro Stock class.

Run What You Brung Results:

Dave- 1st

Darryl-2nd This was his first time out with his new upgrades. Great hook!
Erik- 3rd.

Howard- 4th. Typical Howard. Shows up at the last minute to pull, then heads out for another pull. And, it wasn't the pull in Trenton. He headed back to Lancaster, PA for a hook at the Buck. So basically he drove @ 16 hours to TN, drove 233.41' down the track and drove 16 hours home.

Dave Bratt- 5th. This was his 1st hook with a Mitchell Clutch. He almost snuffed it on the take off, but had it figured out by his second hook- street stock class. I lost the results of the street class. I'll post them as soon as I get them. ( I'm not sure who drug this guy in.... His plates said Michigan, so I'll have to blame Darryl!) For future reference: If you want to keep a group of guys in stitches just take Dave along. I can't believe he didn't get lock jaw!

Marlin Shirk- 6th.
Lorretta- AKA "Chicken". I didn't want to hook and take a chance of breaking the tow truck 13 hours from home. I liked all the people but the 98+ days and my big belly just weren't mixing well.....what an excuse.

Curtis Aldridge (Michigan)- 2nd.
Dave Bratt (Michigan)- 3rd.
*My thoughts (they are few, not many care, but.....)
This was a great weekend! The people in TN were fantastic, we were made feel right at home. A special thanks to Brandon Karcher and Joe Wamble for setting up these classes for us. I would also like to thank Howard and Marlin for driving in from PA. Darryl, Dave, and Curtis, for driving in from Michigan, and Erik for coming in from OH. This is a great group to pull with. There was competition, but each one wanted the other guys truck to do well. What an excellent example of good sportsmanship!
Waynesburg, PA
8/7/02
Dale Factor- 1st.

Doug Davis- 2nd. Great job Doug! Much better than the 1" you achieved last year. ( I won't mention how you did Sat. night. But, you might want to put a sticky note in your truck stating the when pulling you have 2 choices of gears; 3rd. low or 2nd high. If you try 3rd high the results are less than 8').
Carlisle, KY
8/10/02
Erik Stacey- 1st.

Dave Gresh- blew and air to air boot.
Dave and I were not able to attend. Our oldest daughter Jennifer was baptized Sunday and the clutch fan went out on my truck. But from what we have heard the pull went very well. Thanks to all involved for putting forth the extra effort to make this pull a success.

Dave, Lorretta and Keith Conway- FULL PULL (Keith and I decided not to pull off with Dave. We didn't want to show him up.......)

I'll finish these results when I receive them.

Gene- 4th. What a wimp! He clutched it at 289'. I think he's had enough carnage for the season. Either that or he's saving up for the Scheid event next weekend.

Howard-9th. (I think he's lost. He started out in eastern PA on Tues. and drove to western PA for Washington. Then he drove back to eastern PA for the Wed. Huntington pull. Then he drove to western PA on Thurs. for New Castle. He's going somewhere for Friday also, I just lost track where.)
Wattsburg, PA

We just wanted to take a few minutes and set the record straight. We are not, and never will be above reproach. We are a small family business ran in the best interest of our family, employees, customers, and supporters. We have made mistakes, and will probably make more since we are always trying to progress. We have gotten where we are by treating our customers fairly and honestly. We have never tried to push a product on a customer or bash another vendor. We work on the theory that our personnel and products speak for themselves. Each product we sell is first abused by us in our personal vehicles. The “White Dodge” is the only truck in our group that is not driven regularly on the street; it is basically our test vehicle. We take it to an extreme so that we can test our products. When you buy a product from us we want you to feel you are getting your moneys worth. We have never claimed any of our products to be perfect and we freely tell you the limitations we have found with each product tested.
We have never tried to ignore or bypass safety issues. We have pulled with the Full Pull Productions/ATPA East Coast Series in the 2002 season. We have met every safety guideline they have set for our class. We have ran, and offered driveshaft loops for sale for the entire 2002 season. To date this has been the most common failure point in the drivetrane. In addition to the Full Pull rules we have installed a secondary fuel kill switch, and pointed the exhaust either up or down for spectator and driver safety.

We have had blow proof bellhousing on order since spring. We have also found a vendor to custom manufacture NV 4500 and NV 5600 bell housing wraps. In these situations we are at the mercy of the manufacturer. We have sent him the housings and the wraps are in the works.

UPDATE Sept. 2002 We now have safety blankets in stock for NV 4500 and NV 5600 transmissions.

Justin- 11th.

8000 Open: There were 13 hooks in this class. (Just a side note: The only Mitchellized truck in this class that is not driven daily is Dave's. Some of the guys choose not to drive their trucks daily, but it's their choice. Most of these trucks can even tow trailers without any problems. None of these trucks have been modified to full blown pulling trucks because the class we pull in with Full Pull/ATPA requires us to keep them street legal. That means no drop boxes, plantaries, hollowed out bodies, etc.)

THANKS! to all the pullers who came out to put on such a great show. This was awesome way to end the season. We are looking forward to next year.
Just a quick note. If you are coming to GA from Michigan, don't follow Darryl. He thinks you need to visit Florida first.....

Dave- 1st

Erik- 2nd This was a picture perfect hook.

Gene- 3rd Did anyone know Gene was French? The announcer kept calling him MO' nay.

Rob Thomas- 5th Not too bad for the "new guy". I bet he's got a to do list to complete before next season!

Curtis- 6th Not a bad showing for pulling with the Big Rams.

Ryan Milby- 9th I think he's got it figured out now, we'll see tomorrow.

Darryl- broke They lightened the sled AFTER he threw his driveshaft.

Lorretta- I didn't hook, my truck is still in the shop. I don't want to watch the tailgate of the White Dodge next season, so I decided that I needed to make some changes:-). I can't wait!

Erik- 1st Erik and Darryl were in a pull off. They put on an awesome show of power. Great hook Erik!
Darryl- 2nd I think I heard Darryl say that he felt obligated to let Erik win after Erik supplied the parts to fix his truck..... or maybe not.
Gene- 3rd Way to go Gene. Just think 7 months 'till Muncie.
Rob- 4th Each hook gets better. Watch out next season for this over-valved monster.
Ryan- 5th I love it when a plan comes together. HINT: You can get more traction on the track, IF you don't burn all the tread off of your tires on the street.
Curtis- 6th My guess is that he'll be asking Santa for more HP.
2002 Recap We want to take a moment to let each puller, customer, spectator, employee and promoter/sled crew member how much we appreciate each of them. Without you, this season would not have been such a success. Thank you for your support and friendship.

We are coming upon the Thanksgiving and Christmas season and we need to focus on the true meaning of each. The terrorist attacks over the last year have been horrible, but they have started opening the eyes of the blind. We live in a country with MANY amenities, most of which we take for granted. It's about time we stop and "smell the roses". Take time to realize your MANY blessings; your family, friends, home, health, job, food, freedom to worship, and all the stuff we all feel we must have. Take time to give thanks and to remember JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON, not Santa, shopping, etc. Let's get our priorities straight!

Take time this season to be kind to someone less fortunate than you are. This would be a great time to start a new family tradition. A tradition with memories that will last a lifetime.
May God bless each of you and your families, and may you bless someone else's life!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Dave, Lorretta, Jennifer, Becky, Robert Mitchell
