2004 Pull Results

April 9, 2004 Dekalb Columbus, OH

1st Steve Stoltzfus He gave the bunny hop back to the Easter Bunny!

2nd Chad Davis Great looking hook-as usual.

3rd Jeremy Straley- Looks like Jeremy is going to give the twin charger trucks a run for their money with his single charger.

4th Kyle Michaels- Looked good. I bet they'll be some fine tuning before pulling season.
5th Rivers Roark- He accomplished his task..... He beat Rocky.
6th Rocky Roark- He just went out and purchased ear plugs so he doesn't have to listen to Rivers.
7th Justin Burns- Erik couldn't stand not pulling. He coerced Justin into letting him pull his truck.
8th Corey Holland- Looked good for a daily driver.
9th Eric Stingley (blew a boot)
10th Jason Nihiser (4 WD wouldn't engage)

April 24, 2004 Klamath Falls, OR

Scott Vorhees- 1st place with a FULL PULL. Great way to start off the season.

April 30 & May 1 (sort of) Michigan City, MS

Maybe next year they'll be less rain and more trucks ready to pull! From all indications, the trucks who were ready put on a great show.

Friday April 30 Results:

8000 lb Street

Brandon Karcher 3rd

Joey Burton 4th wpeA.jpg (230843 bytes)

Nick Hayes 10th (wrong gear-or the nerves kicked in because of all the winter upgrades)   wpe9.jpg (281929 bytes)

9000 lb Street

Brandon 3rd (what's the deal with 3rd place?)

Nick 4th ( I can't believe Brandon beat you by .05")

Robert Thorton 5th wpe6.jpg (308136 bytes)

8000 lb Open

Eric Stingley 1st (There are going to be some good stories to tell this year! There's NEVER a dull moment when we're pulling (or driving to a pull) with Eric..........)

Nick 2nd I think he's got it figured out.

Did anyone get good pictures of Eric and Brandon? The ones I received were too blurry to post. They must have thought it was a drag race and not a truck pull...........

  • Saturday May 1- Rained out
  • Sunday May 2 (rain date) Rained out
  • Monday May 3 Everyone went back to work rain or not.

May 1, 2004 Big Knob, PA

Shawn FP/2nd (broke in the pull off) wpe6.jpg (12620 bytes) Dean FP/4th
(the wrong gear will get you every time)

May 9, 2004 Waterford, OH

Chad- 1st. at 330+' What a way to pull- You leave the line with no boost and 2 turbos.....you end the pull with triple digit boost and one turbo (actually 2 turbos minus 1 boot). Corey- 1st in the street class.

May 22, 2004 Owensville, MO

Nick Hayes 2nd in the street class and 3rd in the 8,000#  Once he gets all his winter upgrades figured out- WATCH OUT!

 May 29, 2004 Greenwich, OH

I only have sketchy results, we didn't make this pull. Let me know if I missed anyone.

Drew- 2nd I bet we'll be seeing a lot of Drew this season.

Ryan- 4th He made it into the pull off, but broke his rear end doing it.

Phil Davis- 5th He's got the fever!

Craig- broke

May 29, 2004 The Buck

Katie Kindley (Marlin's girlfriend) This was Katie's debut pull and she blew a boot. Watch out- she'll be back!

May 30, 2004 Mercer, PA

Dave Mitchell 1st  No "bunny hop" FINALLY!!!!
wpe1C.jpg (68120 bytes)

Eric Stingley 2nd I can't wait to see what he can do when he uses all the throttle.......... I just love being a "back seat driver"!
wpe6.jpg (17921 bytes)
Ryan Milby 2nd Awesome run for a single charger truck! Or any truck for that matter.

Dave, Eric and Ryan all full pulled. Eric broke and Ryan dropped out of the pull off so that he didn't take a chance on breaking before the run what you brung class. He really wanted to beat one specific gasser, but the rain came and the pullers went.........

Steve Stoltzfus 4th

Howard Deshong 7th I think his mind was elsewhere! I can't believe he got married on May 28 and is spending his honeymoon truck pulling with his new wife Jess.

CONGRATULATIONS! wpe22.jpg (76333 bytes)

Drew Pumphrey 8th

Dean Steinel 9th

Craig Severson 10th

Jim Wise 14th I think he's taking driving lessons from Doug Davis...sorry I couldn't resist.

*Ryan, Howard, Drew, Dean, Craig and Jim are all single charger trucks. They pulled in the Super Stock Diesel Class for points.

Shoot Out Results: The winner of the SS Diesel Class (Dave) pulled against Frank Puskarich (Ford/DT466) in the Shoot Out. Dave won the shoot out.

The RWYB class was cancelled due to rain.

June 5, 2004 Mineral Wells, WV

Mineral Wells, WV was rescheduled for Sunday June 6 and Old Washington, OH was cancelled due to rain.
Dave- 1st Still no bunny hop, so now I vote for more POWER.
Eric- 2nd If you ever need any pre pull info just call Eric. He's usually there at least a day early................
Chad- 3rd It's too wet to put up hay, so why not do something fun.
Jeremy- 6th (broke) He'll be ready for London!
Kiggans- 7th (broke)

June 5, 2004 Muncie, IN

Pro Street:
Ryan- 1st  ( Ryan is a single charger truck, but had to pull with the twins because his turbo housing had been drilled. It did bolt directly to the manifold). Great hook Ryan!
Gene- 3rd What's there to say about Gene.........
Shawn- 4th Nothing like unloading your truck and realizing you get the privilege of working on it before you can pull. Those darn spider gears. I bet you never just "leave it on the trailer" between pulls again.
wpe6.jpg (38434 bytes)
Jamie Roberts- 7th If I remember correctly this is the pull that started Jamie pulling a couple years ago.
Scott Burton- 8th

Street Diesel:
Nick- 5th This was a very competitive class. The top 10 trucks were all within 10' of each other.
wpe8.jpg (33251 bytes)
Craig- 14th Rumor has it more HP is in the works.
Drew- 18th
Dean- 19th

Modified Diesel:
Eric- 3rd He blew a boot. We were rained out in Mineral Wells so he didn't have anything better to do than take a road trip and try out his new upgrades.

June 12, 2004 London, OH

We drove in a monsoon to get here, but the Madison County Fairboard, the Madison County Engineer and the Madison Plains Young Farmers and FFA did a great job getting the track ready for the pull!
Please let me know if you are an EEP Puller and I didn't post your results.

Street Stock:
Kyle Michaels- 1st. OK, Dodge boys.....you let a Dura Max sneak by! Way to go Kyle- awesome hook.
Lester Davis- 2nd A little birdie told me that Lester reminded Phil of all the things he did while he was growing up at home. BUT Lester was willing to put the past behind them, IF he could drive Phil's truck-some little birdies just like to tell stories to make this page more interesting............ Great hook for a rookie!
Cody Nichols- 5th Watch for more HP soon!

Pro Stock (single charger):
Gavin Knisley 3rd Nice solid hook.
Phil Davis 5th (Your Dad pulled better than you- Was that in the deal?)
Dean- 6th He must really love pulling. He gave his wife (I think-it's a year later and NO pictures) his wallet to go shopping with his sister and he went truck pulling!
Dustin Funderburgh- 7th He's got the fever!
Matt Funderburgh- 8th It runs in the family. Dustin got you by 8"
Jake Henry- 10th Now I know what the safety blanket, kill and pulling hitch was for.
Jeremy- 11th. Oops- you get more footage when you have 4WD locked in.

Super Stock:
Chris Watson- 1st You guys have done a great job with this truck! Lookin' good.
wpe6.jpg (39870 bytes)

Dave Mitchell- 2nd I say he drove like a grandpa, he says his new clutch slipped. He said....She said....
Watch him and decide for yourself

wpeA.jpg (40312 bytes)     wpeC.jpg (28087 bytes) That's MY DAD!!!!
Ryan- 4th Another great hook for the single charged streak!!!!
wpe8.jpg (35000 bytes)
Chad- 5th It helps to keep your throttle linkage intact for the entire pull.
wpeD.jpg (30072 bytes)
Craig- 6th You can tell he's from WI. He wouldn't believe anyone at registration, but he found out when he was lining up for the class. He looked at the trucks around him and he saw he entered the "full blown" class and not the street class. He learned his lesson the hard way, but he still had a good hook.
Roger Straley- 7th Another rookie puller! It must have been the day for Dad's to drive. May it was an early Father's Day present? Jeremy did you notice your Dad pulled better than you did? I really hate to be the one to point that out.
Dean- 8th He pulled 2 classes and gets to drive home. Much cheaper than the shopping spree his wife went on.....
wpeB.jpg (37870 bytes) Got smoke?

EEP Flameworthy Award for the day:
As usual it goes to.......................Eric Stingley! If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have had to invent this award.
We brought the shop truck with us to London so we could tow his pullin truck back to our shop for some work. He (being the gentleman he is) hooked up his trailer to our truck. Then he pulled a typical Eric move- he locked the keys in our shop truck! So much for helping out.
Oh, I just about forgot-not really. I got a phone call the next day from you guessed it- Eric. He proceeded to inform me that he had the keys for his pulling truck in his pocket! Why did we even take a truck to London to pull him back to our shop IF he was going to lock our keys in our truck and KEEP his keys...............
I can't wait to see what happens in Dover. There's never a dull moment with Eric on our team.

June 19, 2004 Dover, OH

Dave- 1st I think he finally got tired of me calling him "Gramps" all week. He brought her out like a "wild man" as Shaner would say.
wpeA.jpg (40276 bytes)
Erik- 3rd You need to check out Erik's new paint job-it's unreal.
wpeC.jpg (43120 bytes)

EEP Flameworthy Award for the day:
Once again, Eric has the honors of the EEP Flameworthy Award! If he accumulated as many points in the points series as he does EEP Flameworthy Awards he be in first place!
Eric was ready to leave for a truck pull. It was raining so he wanted to cover his motor (I'm not sure why). The only thing he could find was the cover for his Dad's new Sea Doo. Well needless to say, Eric figured he could use it and no one would ever find out. Well, out of sight- out of mind. After Eric was at the pull his Dad came up to him with a friend and wanted to show him the motor. Guess what was still on the motor! Now for the best part: His Dad ask him not to use the cover, so like the obedient son he is, he placed the cover in the bed of his truck. Then he proceeded to let it blow out on the way home- way to go Eric!

June 19, 2004 Mansfield, OH

8000 Street Class:
Drew- 1st I bet I know what he will spend his winnings on.....
Craig- 2nd I think there's more HP in the works here also.

June 19, 2004 Soldiers Grove, WI

Jim Tisdale- 1st place!  The Powerstrokes never knew what hit 'em
(or smoked 'em).
Finally a 1st place win! Congratulations.

June 19, 2004 Wattsburg, PA

Shawn- 1st Calvin- 2nd

June 26, 2004 Aberdeen, ID

Scott- 2nd in the 7200lb and 3rd in the 8200 lb.

June 26, 2004 Rushville, IN

Phil- 2nd place! I think he got tired of me ribbing him about 5th place. He put it on the 3rd place truck by @ 45'.

June 27, 2004 New Castle, PA

7200 lb RWYB: This was a very tough class, the track didn't come around until the end.
Craig and Drew had decent hooks because of the dual wheels (and of course their expert driving talent).
Drew- 6th wpe16.jpg (37917 bytes)
Craig- 7th
Ryan- 8th Looked like he was skating on ice! Awesome wheel speed- not so awesome footage.......... That's why Ryan's been wearing the bullseye in the shop all morning (Monday). Craig is not going to let him forget that he lost to a street truck! I had to go back to the house and get my swamper boots just to get in the shop door!
wpe15.jpg (43017 bytes)

8000 lb Super Stock Diesels:
Dave, Eric, Chad and Ryan all had Full Pulls! This was an awesome class. Everyone looked great!
Dave-1st That's my husband! Sorry, I have to be a little excited after a year like last year.
wpe1A.jpg (29325 bytes)
Eric- 2nd This was the best run I've seen this truck make! Awesome job driving, Eric.
wpe17.jpg (28142 bytes)
Chad- 3rd It's amazing how well a truck will run-when it goes to full fuel!
wpe19.jpg (26083 bytes)
Ryan- 4th This was the only single charged truck that made it into the pull off.
Shawn- 5th Lookin good, until the yoke scattered.
wpe1B.jpg (23749 bytes)
Drew- 6th Drew and Craig have their own personal competition going on. They are both duallies and both trucks are still very streetable!
wpe1C.jpg (22897 bytes)
Craig- 7th I'd say the former "Badger" is very close to making some changes. I'm not allowed to disclose any other details.
wpe18.jpg (26602 bytes)
Jim Wise- 8th I see Doug didn't give him anymore driving lessons.
Johnboy- 9th The Ford boy looked good tonight! I can't wait until he gets it tuned in.
  EEP Flameworthy Award:
I'm going to have to make it a tie this time around.
1. As usual Eric Stingley did it again. To make a long story short let's put it this way: I've never seen his truck hook this good and I've never seen one of these trucks spin the wheel free of the bead of the tire. Oh, I almost forgot (not really) Craig learned the hard way the if that happens the wheel is VERY hot.
Now, I'd like to thank Eric's Mom and Dad for this info! Remember when Eric got 2nd in Mercer, PA earlier this year? Well, from what I've heard...he couldn't cash his payback check. Seems he had a little bout with the washing machine and the washing machine won!!
2. Now for the 2nd-Erik Stacey. I found out last night why he has missed two of the last 3 pulls. He was playing putt putt during one and he went to a wedding instead of this pull. I tried to explain that if it was HIS wedding we might understand, but otherwise there was no excuse.... He knew I was kidding- sort of.
I'm glad my name is not Eric/Erik.

EEP Flameworthy Award:
Next time you see the infamous Eric ask him about sleeping on glass......
He was at the motel trying to use one of those wonderful modern day conveniences- the cell phone. Except it wasn't being such a convenience it kept dropping his call. So he tossed it up in frustration. Well, needless to say, it hit the picture above his bed and the glass broke. He cleaned it up the best he could, but still ended up with a bloody toe. Then to add insult to injury- after he left the motel the next morning he had to return a couple hours later to pick up his keys. I wonder what the maid was thinking?

EEP Flameworthy Award:
Today's award goes to Greg Adams and you guessed it Eric. I would have thought by now, you guys would have figured out that you'll be "spotlighted" if you hang around Eric very long.
Greg decided to put twins on his truck and Eric was ready and willing to help. Maybe a little too willing if you ask me, but you didn't ask me so here is the rest of the story:
Did you ever start a project that should only take a few hours and it turned into sleepless nights? Well this is what happened when Greg recruited Eric to help put the twins on his truck. First of all they started out by replacing the head bolts with a stud kit. Everything was going great until they started to torque the studs. It's not a good thing when you hear a "pop" on the final torque and the end of the stud is missing. There is a good ending here, they were able to take a screw driver and back out the stud so that they didn't have to remove the cylinder head. They also learned a very good lesson- MAKE SURE YOUR TORQUE WRENCH IS CALIBRATED! So, after that they proceeded to install the twins. You have to knock out a soft plug in the block to install them, Greg almost had it out when Eric started to help......they spent the next 30 minutes digging the soft plug out of the block so that they didn't have to pull the oil pan. You need to ask Eric about this, all he can do is shake his head and say "I don't want to talk about it".  Greg is too big, so Eric was the one packed into the fender well like a sardine. If I didn't know better I'd say they had to use the hoist to get him out because his legs were so cramped after 30 minutes of fishing for a soft plug. Well, the rest of the installation went pretty well. That is until the test drive. Greg and Eric take off down the road and from what I hear Greg was driving like a Grandpa, with a little encouragement from the passenger he really got into it and POOF! That wasn't too bad, but then they heard TING-TING-TING. Then they popped the hood they realized that they didn't get the snap ring in the groove on the top charger intake-not a good thing. There's nothing like having buddies, they called Phil Davis and he delivered a new charger to their road side location. He even brought welding gloves for the swap (that takes all the fun out of it). I wonder if they ever attempt studs and twins again?????????
Update: A reliable source told me that this project took 27 sleepless hours and when Eric was done he looked like a coal miner! How do some mechanics wear white shirts? What a way to spend the 4th of July!

Greene County Pull for the kids. This pull is held the 1st Saturday after the 4th of July and provides prescriptions for children in their grandparents care. For more information or to help support this event next year contact Carol Sue Knox at   937 -374-5658.

Erik- 4th Now he's getting dialed in!
Chad- 6th But not for long.....

Craig- 2nd Thanks for the play by play in the SS stock! I had to stay home and camp out with 10- 8 to 11 year olds, so Craig kept us up to date. He sounds VERY professional at midnight on a speaker phone by the campfire.

Justin-
EEP Flameworthy Award:
Believe it or not Eric had nothing to do with this one............
Greg has one of the latest greatest balls for the receiver on his truck. It is (WAS) one of the quick change ones where you just pull a pin to change the ball size. Well he drove over a set of RR tracks the other day (he won't say how fast-but we all know he just installed twins.....) and when he tried to stop at the next light he got a little push from his trailer. He got out and there was no pin for the quick change ball! The only thing that saved him was the safety chains. Needless to say that set up went into the scrap barrel!
Update: (This is always the best part....when I get "the rest of the story"). You know the light he stopped- well it was directly in front of the State Highway Patrol HQ. The wasn't so bad, but when the tags on your trailer are expired it makes you start to sweat!

You show your support in so many ways: throwing weights, changing tires, words of support, applause, supplying tow vehicles, helping with repairs, washing trucks, watching Robert (that's a big one), and so many other things! We're proud to be a member of such a great group!

*They had to split the class because there were so many trucks. They ran a single charger class and a twin charger class. We made a group decision to award no points for this pull because the pullers must pull in the Super Stock Class to receive points and the fairboard would only let them hook in one of the two classes.

EEP Flameworthy Award:
This is a first.....the guilty party emailed me the details for this Flameworthy award. We'll have to wait and see if they are all inclusive.
I (Erik Hamilton) was on my way to pull in Xenia, but I struggled mightily. We left with my truck behind my buddy Dusty's truck. The trailer brakes stuck on us about three miles from our shop. So we turned around went back to the shop, unloaded it and took off driving. We made it about 15 miles from the shop when the left rear tire and wheel came off and passed us. It ended up about 700 feet in a hay field. It was a good thing the ladder bar brackets were on the rear end. They hit the road before the hub did. After we got it on the rollback and headed out,we caught a ride with some of our friends in a brand F truck to watch the pulls. I guess that is what happens when you get in a hurry and you finish working on you truck at 12:30 on a Sunday night.

EEP Flameworthy Award:
It was starting to get a little boring, but Eric stood up to the challenge-again.
When we got to The Buck we all were unloading our trucks and "dressing" them for the pull. Everything was going smooth until Eric went to put his weight bracket on..........No weight bracket. When he removed it at Reedsville, he laid it on the ground instead of putting it on the trailer. Needless to say there is a very nice weight bracket in Reedsville. I can't believe he didn't add injury (to his truck) to insult by running over it as he left.
He decided not to stop and get it because it takes about an hour to drive the 15 miles to Reedsville from the main highway. Make sure you ask Eric how to hang weights when your weight bracket is 250 miles away in another state.
If anyone is bored and looking for something to do, you're more than welcome to drive to Reedsville for a weight bracket.

I would like to thank all that attended this pull. We did our best to be there, but they called us when we were north of Columbus to say we didn't have time to get there.
A special thanks goes out to Rick Mattus (Mighty Mac) and his whole crew. The guys said it was a very well run event.
EEP Flameworthy Award:
It's nice to see the Flameworthy award can stay in the family......... Today's honor goes to none other than Eric Stingley's parents! If you don't have anyone to go truck pulling with you and would like someone to come, just call the Stingley's. They'll be glad to drive 3 or 4 hours to watch strangers with flames pull.
We'd been working overtime on Eric's truck getting the Crower Clutch etc. installed for this pull (yes, this was the reason we were too late to pull). The day started out that we were going to be done early, stop and eat real food before the pull and be there in plenty of time. The only part of that plan that worked out was the "real food" part. We kept in touch with Eric's parents throughout the day. The later in the day it got, the more complications we ran into. They decided to head out for the pull. Well, needless to say things didn't go as planned and they ended up watching strangers pull, while we ate a nice dinner with their son about 1/2 way to the pull.

EEP Flameworthy Award:
Erik Stacey get the Flameworthy award this go around. It's not quite fair that he's awarded his honor, but neither was the situation. Erik went into town to purchase oil and antifreeze. He was sitting at a light talking to Milby on the phone about a pull  a "Grandma Lady" pulls up next to him and proceeds to tell him that if he doesn't get his exhaust fixed she'll report him to the cops..... I think that was the nice version.  Boy, just think of what she would have did if he turned his box on and really got into it!

EEP Flameworthy Award (Belated):
On the way home from Ind. Calvin's brother Adam, was hauling me with his new 04 Dodge. We made it about 30 minutes out of town when the common rail gave out, So we put Adam's truck on Calvin's trailer and hooked Cal's pulling truck to the trailer and headed home. We made it to Indy and got into a traffic jam when Cal went to stop the truck stalled, He went to start it and nothing happened. Found the problem starter was loose and fell into the flywheel no gear on the end, GREAT, we are in bumper to bumper traffic with no starter and a truck that wont idle. So we sat there until all the traffic was gone and pull started his truck, and we are headed home again ,almost into Ohio and I asked Calvin if he had some extra oil, He asked me why, And I pointed to my truck on the trailer that is completely covered in oil and soot. So we stop and the truck stalls come to find out the tappet seal is blown out one gallon low on oil. We fill the oil, pull start the truck and we are off again. Make it to Columbus We need fuel so we stop at the Flyin J, truck stalls at the pump and oil all over everything they just loved us, so the whole rest of the trip we were filling the oil and checking the fuel. But we made it home, my truck is now black I think I will let Calvin wash it.

EEP Flameworthy Award:
At the beginning of this pull Eric was very proud of himself, he hadn't earned the Flameworthy Award in a few weeks. Well that all changed by the middle of the night.
The generator wasn't working correctly on our trailer, so Eric decides to check the spark plug. He then proceeds to look for starting fluid to clean/dry the plug, luckily he only found WD 40. Oeder is holding the plug in the flame of a lighter and Eric walks up and sprays the WD 40. Needless to say Oeder smelled good the rest of the evening....there not a sign of hair on his hand after Eric got done with him! Oeder makes about 4 of Eric, I can't believe he got away with it.

We'd like to take a moment to thank all of those involved with the 1st Annual Charity Truck Pull. Without our sponsors, competitors and spectators we would not be making plans for the 2nd Annual Charity Truck Pull. A special thanks also goes out to all of those who so freely gave of their time. We had literally dozens of people who helped with track preparation, registration, line up, parking, food, show and shine, gate, announcing, teching, cleaning up trash, set up and tear down etc. There is no way we can begin to name of all you. Thank you!
This event was a true blessing!
